Believe it or not, I found out about this yappy yoga event last year when my Twitter friend @Nurelah tweeted me.  She thought Schmitty The Weather Dog (that would be me) might want to salute the sun by doing a Summer Solstice weather pawcast at this cool NYC event in Times Square.  How nice of her.  And how lucky for me.  I got to O-m-m-m-m my way thru the weather. Even caffeinated weatherman Ron found peace and tranquility.  Arf-Arf!   But enough barking, here’s some pics from last year.

Green beans - $27.99 Eating healthy - priceless!

That’s just one of my funny travel tails from my West Coast Tour.   My pesky sister, Pudge, my 2 legged folks and I flew from NYC to Portland, OR.   Then by way of Eugene, OR we drove all the way down the coast and finally ended up in Los Angeles.

First we went to Eugene for a pawty.  It was on a big ranch.  I even sang Yappy Birthday.  I overheard folks say @Pianoweatherman played a mean piano.  (Personally, I didn’t know pianos could be mean).   We spent 3 days at the Copper WindMill Ranch.  A pawsome place on a hill overlooking the mountains in OR.    Not a skyscraper in sight.  Although it rained most of the time, we had lots of fun.  Can you believe me, a 5 pound city slicker tried my hand/paw at being a cowdog and hung out with mules . . .

Ms Lyn and Mr. Bill --  top dogs at the CWM Ranch work like dogs keeping up this beautiful ranch and entering big mule team competitions.   They even renovate old time buggies that the mule teams pull in the big events.   I just had to do a weather pawcast with my new mule friends and one from one of their buggies.    Check em’ out  .  .  .  partner.

Then it was off to visit good friends in Walnut Creek for another pawty.   This vacationing can be exhausting!  BOL!   On our way we hit a snowstorm in the Shasta Mtns.   And some really good pizza in Arbuckle, CA  .   .   .   or so I heard.

Next stop -- the very pet friendly Cypress Inn in Carmel, CA.   Talk about pawsome!  And guess who the owner is?   Here’s a clue .  .  .  *singing/barking Que Sera Sera*   Give up?   The famous actress and pet lover, Ms Doris Day.    Ms. Day wasn’t there (darn) but my tail was waggin’ when I got to meet her partner and co-owner, Mr. Denny DeVett.   He is one fun human.

We spent two pawsome days at the Cypress Inn.  Dogs are treated like royalty.   I met lots of nice pups in the bar.

Carmel is a wonderful town.   Clint Eastwood was mayor.   Sigh.  And the famous Pebble Beach is right there too.   It’s so beautiful I can’t get teed off that dogs aren’t allowed to chase golf balls on the course.   Arf-Arf!

As much as I could have stayed forever in Carmel, we high tailed it to Los Angeles to visit more friends.   Good thing I like car rides. BOL!    We checked into the pet friendly Santa Monica Loews Hotel.    Another pawsome place to stay.    Here’s my poolside weather pawcast overlooking Santa Monica beach and pier.    Just pinch me so I know I haven’t died and gone to heaven!

We toured Santa Monica.   Fun, fun.

And spent lots of time with my almost two legged Grandparents.    I *heart* Jerry & Pat!

Being spoiled on vacation? A pup could get used to that!

Don’t get me wrong.  I *heart* NYC.   It’s my kinda town.   But my west coast “good will tour” was so much fun, I could definitely go bi -- coastal.     Now if I could just cut a deal with American Airlines.   BOL!

I’m just a dog, but I hear tails have been waggin’ and tongues have been braggin’ about what a fun time everyone had at our big doggie fashion show.  Someone said it was like being at a Hollywood premiere.  I’m so excited I could just pee!   Not only was The Big City Little Dog Fashion Show everything I dreamed about and more.   .  .  .  but I got to hang out with *sigh* David Frei.    I love it when a plan comes together!     But enough barking --  here’s some fun pics and videos:

Why?  Cuz  NYC’s biggest puppy play date is almost here!   Yup.  On Friday, February 11th a big pack of small pups and their humans will be going to the  BIG CITY LITTLE DOG Fashion Show to see celebs and NYC personalities strut their stuff.  

 The legendary voice of Westminster, David Frei will be the emcee.  I *heart* David Frei!   NYC Opera singer, Frank Basile will be opening the show with The National anthem.  Hold on to your biscuits!  Gorgeous 93 year old Oscar winner, Celeste Holm will be on the runway with her rescue, Barker.    Niki Cascone from Bravo’s Top Chef and her two Italian greyhounds will be trotting down the runway along with the newest star of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing NYC and her adorable pup.   Karen Beihl and chihuahua, Eli from the new NYC  Life Channel show, Doggie Mom will be struttin’ their stuff on the catwalk.  (OK, so why’s it called a “cat” walk?  That’s so wrong!).   And of course, Meteorologist Ron Trotta and Schmitty The Weather Dog (that would be me!) will be spreading some sunshine on the runway too.   It’s gonna be a ball!   And how I love to play ball. 

But wait – there’s more!   Humans who bring their well dressed small dog to the Big City Little Dog Fashion Show might be chosen to walk down the runway.  Who knows – you might even take the title of ”Best of Show” and win some cool prizes like a two night stay at the New Yorker Hotel or tickets to Westminster, or some New Yorkie fashions.   How pawsome is that?

So, what am I doing in the window of Lee’s Art Shop you ask?  How should I know -- I’m just a five pound dog.  Only kidding.   We were invited back by the very nice top dogs at Lee’s to be in their window again.   This year we are in the big window (We’re moving on up!).   We’re there playing Santa’s elves performing tricks, posing for pics, and napping.  I like the napping part myself.   How many folks can sleep on the job?  BOL!   And it’s all to benefit Angel On A Leash -- a non profit that develops therapy dog programs for hospitals and institutions.   And to make shoppers and passerbys smile of course!

And why shop at Lee’s Art Shop?  Cuz it’s the most magical family owned dog friendly store in NYC to shop at.  It’s been here at 220 W 57th St. for over 50 years and has 4 floors of really cool gifts, furniture, lighting, toys . . .  and oh yeah, art supplies.   But why don’t I quit my yapping and have you watch my fun video below.   Pssst -  if you watch really closely, you’ll even hear Meterologist Ron joke about Angelina and Brad shopping at Lee’s the same day they came by to shop!  Can you say bizarro?

It all started when my weather partner in crime, Meteorologist Ron Trotta found out the Purdue All-American Marching Band was going to be in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  Being that Purdue is his alma mater and he is a former bass drummer in the marching band (in dog years that would have been a gizzillion years ago! BOL!) he decided it was his (and my) mission to pawcast the weather with the Purdue band at the parade. 

Our journey started on the day before Thanksgiving -- doing a weather pawcast at the Macy’s Balloon Inflation station on 81st St and CPW.

It was there that we met Robin Hall, top dog of the whole Macy’s Day Parade for the past ten years.  He’s one nice human and it’s his last year to be pack leader, so how lucky were we.

Way too early Thanksgiving Day morning, Meteorologist Ron and I were on a quest to find the Purdue Marching Band waiting in line on the parade route so we could do our weather pawcast with them.

As if being on the Macy’s parade route doing weather with the Purdue Marching Band wasn’t enough - we then got to hang out near the NBC booth and watch the parade.

But wait - the fun didn’t end here.   Somewhere in the middle of the parade after Jessica Simpson, Gladys Knight, Shrek, Snoopy, The NYPD Band and other amazing humans and creatures went marching by -- we decided it was time to go.  So a very nice policeman let us cross the street.  All of a sudden we were walking in the parade alongside bands & floats & balloons, oh my!   We were in the parade!
