I’m a canine clairvoyant who helps predict the weather everyday. So I figure, how hard can it be to predict the winners for this Sunday’s Oscars?

Oscar predictions are easy. Snow storms are hard!

Here’s my puppy picks for this year’s Oscars:

Best Actor: Jeff Bridges -- Gotta go for the guy who obviously hates to get groomed.

Best Supporting Actor: Stanley Tucci -- Come on! No matter how evil, an actor who loves bones gets my vote!

Best Actress: Sandra Bullock - An actress who helps promote adoption should definitely bring home the statue.

Best Supporting Actress: Mo’nique -- “Ruff” role. Plus, one of my best friends was a poodle named Precious.

Best Animated Feature Film: Up -- Any movie that came up with a collar that lets a dog talk deserves the gold.

Best Director: James Cameron -- Finding those gigantic blue humans, never mind directing them . . . my monies on Mr. Jim.

Best Documentary Film: Food, Inc. -- Hey, I’m a dog!

Best Documentary Short Subject: Rabbit a` la Berlin -- Never been to Germany, but I always root for anything 4- legged.

Best Foreign Film: Milk of Sorrow - I’m thinking cats. Cats are totally foreign to me. You do the math.

Best Song: Take It All from “Nine” -- Who can’t relate to a frisky romp about food?

And the moment you’ve all been waiting for . . .

Best Motion Picture of the Year: Invictus: -- A movie that promotes chasing a ball is a winner in my book!

Yorkie Yaps About Pet Friendly New Yorker Hotel

Wacky weather here in NYC. What’s that saying? If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute. Meteorologist Ron Trotta and me, Schmitty the Weather Dog having been keeping busy with our weather reports.

First it rained . . .

It's raining cats and dogs? What?

Then it snowed . . .

FYI - It's hard to be taken serious with a hood on one's head.

Then we had a blizzard . . .

Then the sun came out . . .

And that was just Friday. BOL!

But no matter what the weather, a great place to stay when you come to NYC is the pet friendly New Yorker Hotel. I stayed there for a week during the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. So I know what I’m barking about!

The New Yorker Hotel is a block away from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. And right around the corner from The Manhattan Center and “C” train. Very convenient to get to everything in NYC. And when you are only 9 inches tall -- that’s very important. Arf-Arf!

I got to spend time with New Yorker’s top dog, Ms. Silvia Lima. She runs the whole kittenkaboodle. Kittenkaboodle? The gr-r-r-eat news is she’s really into clean. And it shows. Trust me, when you are as close to the ground as I am -- you notice these things. Arf-Arf!

The style of The New Yorker Hotel is art deco. Whatever that means. I think it must mean hip. Cuz it is.

All the humans who work at the New Yorker Hotel were so nice and helpful. Get this. I was howling with PianoWeatherMan Ron Trotta at the Puppy Piano Bar in the lobby one night during Westminster. I musta been on a puppy high and so excited, I left my doggie bag in the lobby. The next morning instead of having a heart attack, I got my bag back. The nice security humans had found it and kept the bag with all it’s treats safe & sound for me. A four paws up for The New Yorker security!

Reservation at Le Cirque? I love this place.

I love a guy without a lot of baggage. BOL!

The good news about The New Yorker Hotel -- I had a ball. The bad news about the New Yorker Hotel -- I had to leave. But hopefully I will be back to stay & play again during next year’s Westminster Dog Show -- if not before. OK, where was I? Oh yeah, my whirlwind week at Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

As I might have mentioned -- Meteorologist Ron Trotta and me, Schmitty The Weather Dog were asked to report the weather for all the people traveling to NYC for the WKC Dog Show. Just like Mary Anne who e-mailed us as she was driving from Chicago to the show with 17 dogs (17 dogs!) -- weather was on everyone’s mind as they were coming, staying and going to the WKC Dog Show events this past week. Glad we could help out.

Even David Frei, top dog and TV co-host for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show joined us for our “Best of Show” weather report and pics the last day of the show. That David, he’s one nice human!

Ya think it's easy renting a tux when you weigh in wet at five pounds?

One thing I love about the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is the giving back. Mr. Frei is also top dog of a non-profit organization, Angels On A Leash, that help create the best pup therapy programs to visit hospitals and healthy care facilities around the country. How cool is that? A four paws up for all the nice humans working to help bring canines for furry visits & smiles to folks in their time of need.

I wanna join "Angels On A Leash" just so I can hang out with this fun guy!

My weather sidekick, Meteorologist Ron Trotta was also tickling the ivories over at the New Yorker Hotel lobby for all the pups & people staying there for Westminster. Who knew my weather partner was so talented. Must be good training. Arf-Arf!

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show has asked Meteorologist Ron Trotta and me, Schmitty The Weather Dog to report the weather here in NYC for all the big dog festivities going on during Westminster week. A top dog honor indeed. The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is legend! This is their 134th annual All Breed Dog Show here in NYC. It’s like The Empire State Building - part of the culture & lore here in NYC every February.

OK, for those pups with their humans already in town – here’s a few insider tips for cool things to do on a snowy day in NYC.

TV shows filmed in NYC desperately need to fill seats for their show on big snow days like today. My pet parents have gotten into the David Letterman Show during blizzards, so I bark from experience. If you go to The Ed Sullivan Theatre on 1697 Broadway (between 53rd & 54th St) around 3PM and sniff around, you may get into a taping of The David Letterman Show. Now that would be a “Smart Human Trick!” Arf-Arf!

Regis & Kellytape their daytime TV show on the Upper West Side. Since this is my hood, I know that Regis just has to walk across the street to work from his apartment, so a blizzard wouldn’t stop him from doing the show! The R&K Show is filmed Monday thru Thursday mornings at 9AM, so if you show up early at the ABC Studios at Columbus and 67th St. and get in line tomorrow while everyone else is shoveling out from this or any storm – you might get in. Just dress warm! Arf-Arf!

Of course, that’s fun daytime stuff to do during a blizzard in NYC. If you’re looking to stay warm and have a howling good time at night this week, come on over to the lobby of the pet friendly New Yorker Hotel for Pianoweather Man Ron Trotta at the PetzLife Piano Bar. Yup! Meteorologist Ron Trotta not only knows how to read a weather map, but he’s also a three time world champion Ragtime piano player and sing along piano wild man! Arf-Arf! I’ll be stopping by too. Might even sing “Doggie In The Window” if the mood strikes me. Woot!

Wow! It’s my birthday! I’m so excited I could just pee. But I didn’t. Instead I went to my neighborhood bank and celebrated. How many dogs get a gaggle of bankers to sing to them? The proof is in the video. Whatever that means. Arf-Arf!

I give a four paws up on dogs eating healthy, living longer and having a bank where everyone knows your name. Arf-Arf!

Yorkies – We’re #1 in Pet Friendly NYC!

I can’t believe it! Yesterday the AKC named us Yorkshire Terriers the #1 most popular dog in New York -- for the second year in a row. And get this - the famous Gothamist said I had something to do with it. How fun is that!

Speaking of Yorkies . . . Friday, Feb. 12th -- 14th, my sister, Pudge and I will have our “New Yorkie” booth once again at the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America Specialty Show (bark that fast 3X’s) at the New Yorker Hotel. This is the big show before the Westminster Dog Show. Not only will we be shaking paws and selling our cool “new Yorkie” stuff and “Petzlife” to help your pup’s teeth -- but my weather partner, Meteorologist Ron Trotta will also be playing playing piano at the Petzlife Piano Bar in the New Yorker lobby Friday night, Sunday night and Monday night too. So, mark that on your calendar! A good time will be had by all. And keep checkin’ in for more details.

As Meteorologist Ron Trotta would say, “Let’s talk about the weather.” If you are coming to visit the Big Apple, make sure you dress warmly. Today it was snowing big snowflakes in the morning and then it was sunny and blue skies in the afternoon. Crazy!

The great thing about NYC is that no matter what the weather is in the winter -- their is always something to do. Whether it’s checking out a museum, a Broadway Show, or the YTCA and Westminster Dog Shows in Feb. -- you can walk or ride to wherever you want to go.

The subway is magic. You get on one place and you get off someplace else.

Remember, NYC is the city that never sleeps and it’s the city that never let’s a little snow or cold weather stop you from having fun. Just make sure you check first to see if wherever you are going is pet friendly. If it’s not, make plans for your pup to be safe and warm in the hotel or wherever you’re staying. Just like humans we should never be left out in the cold or in a car in the winter. Although I know some humans who always seems to be left out in the cold about a lot of things -- but that’s a different story. Arf-Arf!

Yorkie Checks Out Tavern On The Green Auction

I went to check out the famous Tavern On The Green before they auctioned everything off. The good news – my sister Pudge and I were allowed to walk and sniff around the whole restaurant. The bad news – the kitchen was closed! Can you imagine they were selling all this historic stuff - from the flowered carpets to the fancy schmancy ceiling. It seemed so wrong. There, I said it and I’m glad!

They say that a new restaurant will replace Tavern On The Green. The same human who runs The BoatHouse in Central Park will be opening this new place. Hey, Mr. Poll, here’s a few suggestions for your new restaurant: 1) Make the food yummy 2) Give out free “doggie bags” and 3) Allow dogs. Now we’re talking/barking!

Yorkie Year in Review

Yappy New Year! Yappy 2010! Wow. Time flies even for me, a furry five pound pooch.

Like that funny New Yorker, Dave Letterman, I thought I’d share my top ten highlights of 2009 for my very first blog of the New Year. OK here goes . . .

1o) I met Oprah! Yup, Oprah and I hung out together between breaks at her show in Central Park last September. A nice human and she smelled good too!

My new BFF!

9) Made my singing debut in a landmark NYC store window on busy 57th St. The next Susan Boyle? You be the judge . . .

8 ) Did a weather report during the world’s biggest pie fight! How many humans can utter that sentence? Click below and howl!

7) My pesky sister, Pudge and I starred in an episode of “The Haunted”, a new series on Animal Planet. Scary . . . acting that is, not the show. BOL! I’ll update you when I find out when my episode will be running.

6) I learned how to Twitter. How tweet is that. Arf-Arf!

5) My “Doggie In The Window’ promotion at the famous Lee’s Art Shop in NYC was a big success. Not only was I the first canine to get pet trick requests on Twitter from humans all over the USA - even from Japan and Egypt, but they also watched me and Pudge perform them LIVE on my Schmitty cam! And thru the sales of my 2010 Healthy D0’s & Don’t calendar and the generosity of Lee’s Art Shop -- we raised $1200.00 for Bobbi & The Strays, a fab shelter in Queens.

The only differnce between living in Lee's store window and a New York apt . . . the store window was bigger! Arf-Arf!

5) Learned that even holistic vets know how to party at the AHVMA convention in Fitchburg, MA this past fall. Who knew!

3) Got to rub paws with runners from all over the world at the NY Marathon this past November.

I was either a bit early or a bit late for the Marathon!

2) Was invited to perform at RI Pet Expo & AKC “Meet The Breed” Show in NYC.

Who say you can't teach a small dog cool tricks. Arf-Arf!

1) Spending time with friends . . .

Reminds me of that new drink - Yorkies on the Rocks. BOL!

To borrow a quote e-mailed to me from my good friend, Diane of the tail wagging Goochi Poochi shampoo products:

Yorkies : Back By Popular Demand!

Tis the season to be absolutely crazy. Plus, my computer has gone on to computer heaven. So, I’m a mess. But a cute mess!

The reason I’m writing is for two things. One – I’m gonn a be down at Lee’s Art Shop at 220 W 57th St. again today (Friday), tomorrow and Sunday from noon on so if you have a chance to come visit. Come visit. And if you live in Georgia or California or Maine or anywhere in between – definitely check Pudge and I on our live feed. Just scroll down and read how on my last blog. All the info is there.

And if I can sneak on my 2 legged folk’s computer tonight – I will also tell you all about another wonderul, magical store – More & More! It’s on the corner of W78 St. and Amsterdam avenue on the WEst side. Fantastic. Meteorologist Ron trotta and I did the weather from there the other day. I promise I’ll tell you all about it too.
